Definition
Contemporary fiction is pieces of writing created between the 1960’s and present time that has flawed individuals. The main focus is characters behaving like real people who are struggling with many internal conflicts. Society is viewed as cruel with a strong hold over the characters that are powerless to get out of it. Because contemporary fiction often focuses on the cruelty, insanity, and horror of the human mind, most contemporary fiction writings are very hostile or violent. When the story is over, characters usually do not change or learn anything. The story leaves the reader thinking about his or her life.
